The profile of the typical Chicago gang leader as a graying, suburban, technology-friendly convict overseeing hundreds -- or even tens of thousands -- of members in everything from mortgage fraud to drug dealing emerges from The Gang Book, a new 272-page illustrated guide by the Chicago Crime Commission.

Gangs migrate to 'burbs,

Among the Crime Commission's suggestions for controlling gang activity - at least among those that impressed the Sun-Times' crime reporter - is limiting hand gun sales to one per month. One per month per person that would be, I suppose. If some of those Vice Lords have been buying one hand gun per month since I knew them they must own about 400 apiece by now. But, hey. It can get pretty dangerous in those 'burbs, ya know.
