Tax rant
I read in the Globe this morning Massachusetts has so much money on hand — an "unheard of amount," according to the governor — that there's talk of "tax relief" or tax breaks among the Boston bros.
Meanwhile, in this very left-leaning state, UMASS has announced a tuition increase for next year.
Why?
If we claim to want cheaper or free college education why don't we have it? Why do we feel we can't have it unless the federal government does it for us?
We can. We just don't.
That's the answer.

When politicians downplay the importance of polls…
…it's a sure sign things are not going well.
"According to Gallup polling that dates back to President Eisenhower, only President Trump had a lower approval rating [than Biden] at this point in his tenure.
"A top adviser for Biden downplayed the importance of the polls…"
And this from the May 2 Boston Globe:
In 2020, Biden was a political juggernaut in Massachusetts. A new poll shows voters have soured on him. A lot.

(It's not much of a story. It's an exceedingly rare event. But it's a warm sunny day.)
The guy at the register rang up 1 Small Fries.
"Chocolate," I said.
He gave me a briefly strange look and then said, "They all sound the same."
Imagine a job like that.
