Spring is coming very slowly here. We're getting highs in the high 30's now but, at night, lows well below 20º. So every morning when the ducks peer out the kitchen window from their home on the sill they see ice on the pond. No way are they going out in weather like that.
Despite a record-snowy winter, the ducks' puddle is not as big as it usually is this time of year. Go figure. My hunch is that it's because the ground is still hard and the water from the melting snow runs off. But maybe not.
Meanwhile, the ducks stay put.
