In the next Congress…

Energy Projects Needed Across the U.S. Face Local Hurdles

A March Pew study found that 72% of Americans believe the federal government should encourage the development of wind and solar projects, but the infrastructure needed to support that goal often faces strong opposition at the local level out of concerns they might disfigure landscapes, endanger wildlife or threaten natural resources.

…somebody should propose a Let's Make Up Our Freaking Mind Act,

 Seems to me.

(Of course, it will raise an uproar and get voted down. But still.)

Airbnb is rolling out new screening tools to stop parties

Airbnb said the screening system that it is rolling out for listings in the United States and Canada has been tested since last October in parts of Australia, where it produced a 35% drop in unauthorized parties.

Hey, I wouldn't want to rent my house out for a wild party either—if I had a house.

So, the Eagle Reduction Act?

Wind energy boom and golden eagles collide in the US West

CODY, Wyo. (AP) — The rush to build wind farms to combat climate change is colliding with preservation of one of the U.S. West’s most spectacular predators — the golden eagle — as the species teeters on the edge of decline.

What's going on with the walls around here?

Walls close in on Alec Baldwin as his gun lie falls apart

Always closing in. It's like we're living in a short story by Poe.

Washington says it does not support independence, has no formal diplomatic ties with the island and maintains that the two sides should settle their dispute peacefully — but it is legally bound to ensure the island can defend itself against any attack.

Don't push that button!

I'm hanging around in front of Wendy's waiting for them to open so I can get something to eat and I figure I will just respond to a couple of txt messages while I'm there so I'm dictating (I'm marginally better with that than with thumbs) when a guy walks up and we get into a conversation. And the mic is still open.

And I look down and by now the message I was working on is maybe three or four syllables short of War and Peace and some of it is stuff that could be, shall we say, easily misunderstood. Whew.

Eventually I did push a button, but it was the delete key.

OK, it doesn't take much to be an exciting event around here.
