Portland Is America's Next Great Pizza City
FOOD & WINE

This city's got it all: NYC-style slice joints, neo-Neapolitan pies, and the country's most compelling flavor combos.

…asparagus with sculpit, new potatoes, fresh sheep cheese, apple blossoms and mint yogurt…

I ate pizza in Italy once and it was nothing like the pizza in Chicago which means the pizza in Italy is wrong. And that stuff—mint yogurt?—eeewwww.

Too late for seat belts: We have crashed

When the resignation of Paul Ryan from congress is called "the end of a more hopeful and humane era," we've hit the bottom.

Wait, what?

White Castle now sells a veggie burger that 'bleeds'

White Castle now sells a veggie burger that 'bleeds'

"Today, the Impossible Burger will be available at White Castle restaurants across the United States in the form of the Impossible Slider, a $1.99 sandwich with zero actual meat."

They don't already have a sandwich with zero actual meat? I am astounded.

[Full disclosure: Just reading this story made me hungry for a slider, no kidding.]

Doesn’t seem to be high on the threat list, though

"Our flavor list is up to 275 now," Mr. Snyder said. In sales to restaurants, though, "close to 40 percent is vanilla.

Now I feel a little better

I'm listening to a radio station in London and they're bitching about the cold weather there too.

Slam dunk

Senate fails its Zuckerberg test

CNN Money

Congress doesn't understand Facebook. That's what the senators questioning CEO Mark Zuckerberg showed Tuesday. Read the full story

"Mark Zuckerberg emerged unscathed from Tuesday's Senate committee hearing, and he did so in large part because most of the senators who asked him questions had no clue how Facebook worked, what the solutions to its problems are, or even what they were trying to achieve by calling its CEO to testify, other than getting some good soundbites in."

Just don’t stand too close to the refrigerator

It’s snowing again

This is something up with which I will not put and out into which I will not go unless I run out of potato chips, in which case maybe. It's not a blizzard, it's a principle.

April, Chaucer noted, is when people get an itch to hit the road; but if it's snowing, not me. I start thinking about taking a nap.

Also a nap sounds good because I was up most of the night thinking about encryption. I know that sounds impossibly nerdy but yesterday evening I watched an interview with Tim Cook that was recorded for TV a week or so ago and he brought it up.

Maybe we'll have to talk about that a little more later, but I need to get that nap in before the snow stops and ruins the whole day.

Maybe Mr. Mueller should look into this

Some aides, convinced that Trump puts more stock in what he sees on TV than in his own aides' advice, regularly phone prominent commentators and news hosts to provide talking points on everything from tax policy to Syria in hopes of influencing Trump. Similar strategies have also been embraced by foreign governments and outside groups trying to sway the president's thinking.
