I'm thinking the solution to global warming…

…is football.

Have you noticed this? Whenever people start playing football it gets cooler. Pretty soon it gets so cold they have to stop.

How can we not work with that?

Smart meters could let government peek into your home, court warns - CNET

That court recognized that smart meters are different from analog meters, noting in its decision that: "Using traditional energy meters, utilities typically collect monthly energy consumption in a single lump figure once per month. By contrast, smart meters record consumption much more frequently, often collecting thousands of readings every month. Due to this frequency, smart meters show both the amount of electricity being used inside a home and when that energy is used."

Passwords down under

This morning's Washington Post reports:

security audit of the Western Australian government released by the state’s auditor general this week found that 26 percent of its officials had weak, common passwords -- including more than 5,000 including the word “password" out of 234,000 in 17 government agencies.

Ouch.

But, as countless reports verify, things here up over aren't better. "Password" is not a password; don't use it. Nor "Password123." Passwords should be easy to remember and hard to guess and above all, long. Long, long, long. Here's some more detailed advice.

Or better yet, use a password manager that will generate strong passwords and then remember them for you. Among the most frequently recommended are 1Password, LastPass, and Dashlane.

Flushing contact lenses, as many of the approximately 45 million Americans who wear them do, risks hurting fish and ocean life.
