Does this look like a guy with NO AMBITION or what?

Sure, who wants fake change?

'Alita: Battle Angel' Review: A Muddled Cyberpunk Origin Story – Variety

It is a view broadly held in Hollywood that writing is not the greatest of James Cameron's manifold filmmaking gifts: The visual storytelling of his blockbusters is what sticks, not the plywood poetry he sticks in the mouths of his often perfunctory characters.

"Plywood poetry." That's pretty harsh.

Of course, maybe if you owned a lumber store…

I just learned something very cool

I dictate text to my iPhone because trying to use that tiny little keyboard is an exercise in abject futility. So this morning I was trying to send a short text to somebody and I wanted to stick an emoji on the end but I was tooo lazy to punch that tiny button so I just said "smiley face" and the iPhone did :-)

How awesome is that? :-)

If you already knew it, don't tell me. :-(

Whew, it's cooling off again

2018 was the fourth-warmest year on record, federal climate experts announced today — just behind 2015, 2016, and 2017.

OK, I'M JUST KIDDING.

Green Bay police warn crooks about cold weather dangers

"With the wind chill warnings, we simply cannot have any criminals putting themselves in harm's way at those temperatures," he said. "Avoiding crime and criminal activities is especially important during periods of inclement weather. Also during all other times."

Good point.

Yes I did not

Watch the speech. Last night.

What I did do was watch a few episodes of a Canadian TV show called "Corner Gas," six seasons of which are available on Amazon Prime. It's sort of like eating potato chips; they're 30-minute shows and you can't watch just one.

Corner Gas is sort of like Seinfeld on the Saskatchewan prairie, without the mean parts.  It cracks me up.

Possibly the speech would have too, but something tells me I'm better off not knowing.

OK, let's just forget the whole thing

"Warren filled out the card by hand in neat blue ink and signed it."

They had it coming

After founder's sudden death, cryptocurrency exchange can't access $190 million in holdings - The Washington Post

The first book I ever read about computer security, on its first page, posed this problem:

What happens if your chief financial officer is the only person with access to your money and the CFO gets hit by a bus?

Clearly, this throws doubt on the old "never tell anybody else your password" rule which, in the present case, is a terrible idea.

Perhaps counterintuitively, it may be easier to solve this problem on a corporate level than a personal one (you may be able to find a suitable backup for your money guy but if your mother knows your password watch her like a hawk). If, however, you plan to leave your massive hoard of magical moneynumbers to heirs, it's something you'd better start working on soon.

Here's Ars Technica discussing the relative social merit of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos by comparing how many miles their private jets fly.

Elon Musk's private jet appears to make frivolous flights, per Washington Post | Ars Technica

Although it's not always clear that Musk was aboard every flight, the CEO's private jet made 100 more flights than the private jet of Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon (and owner of The Washington Post).

Apple's Tim Cook is also mentioned (hardly flies at all by comparison) as well as effect on stock prices, yada yada.

Cry, I think.
