The proposal states that “no action shall lie . . . in any court, and no penalty . . . shall be imposed . . . against any person” for giving the government information, including customer records, in connection with alleged intelligence activity the attorney general certifies....Whoa. Right there. Did you see that? The attorney general freaking certifies?“ Doesn't that make your little heart just thrum with joy?
Maybe there was once a day when the attorney general was the very model of a modern guy-you-can-trust but honey, I want to tell you something: It ain't now.
