Founded five years ago by Douglas Repetto, the director of research at Columbia University's computer music center, dorkbot is an informal club of artists, techies and geeks who do "strange things with electricity," according to their motto.Like the woman, Alyce Santoro, who weaves audible textiles from recorded audio tape and the guy, Mikey Sklar, with the neon lights in his hand (have you noticed a trend toward things that glow? - just wondering).
"They're doing things, but they're not quite sure, What is this? Where does it fit?" Mr. Repetto said.I'm not too sure about talking clothes but flashing lights sounds kind of fun.
You can read more about the dorks at dorkbot.org.
