Not a quick summer read…

…Peter Andreas's Smuggler Nation veers toward the lecture-hallish from time to time, in keeping with Andreas's professorial position at Brown University. But this tale of smuggling's role in the American story, from the colonial era in New England to last week on the Mexican border, is well worth the effort if history (or globalization) is your thing. It's on the list.
