It's all coming back. Like, whenever I work in Windows I have the feeling I'm working in Windows - and then whatever I want to do sort of as an afterthought. Vista is slipperyslick but it's still Windows, and feels like it.
And look! It's got a terminal window! And it's running...OMG...DOS! Backwards slashes and all. How quaint is that? I haven't seen DOS in a decade - not in all its glory, that is - but Dude, there it is.
What wonders await?

I may be mistaken. I'm not a total geek. But I was always under the impression all Microsoft programs were grounded in DOS.
I loved DOS and for many years used command line entries as opposed to using the icons which MS copied from Apple.
Well they've always run DOS, and through Win95 they actually ran on DOS, as I recall. Beginning with XP/2K, I think, they've run DOS as an application inside Windows. At least that's my understanding. But for a while now it's been necessary to evoke DOS by running a command from the Start menu (I'm not really familiar with XP but in the 2somethingK we run at work that's the way it is). Now, though, a terminal window. I'll put a picture up in my next post.
