The security guard at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport looked up from my carry-on bag with concern.
"You can't bring this on," she said.
In her hands was a small plastic snow globe that I'd bought for my 5-year-old girl at Pike Place Market.
"Why?" I asked.
"It's not allowed."
