Alaska senators upset over TSA's Iditarod decision - Yahoo! News
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Alaska's two U.S. senators said Thursday that they're upset over the Transportation Security Administration's decision to cancel plans — under pressure from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — to recruit potential employees with a publicity campaign at the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
I knew a bona fide explorer once — there is a mountain range in Antarctica named for this guy — who said that on a famous expedition to the South Pole by dogsled the amount of dog food hauled along on the trip was kept to a minimum by planning to eat the dogs on the way back. So I guess PETA, if there had been a PETA back then, would have been really upset about that.
