Confusion, indeed.

I finally got my Sunday paper - after the sand truck made it past my house. In it was listed the five most e-mailed stories for the week. Three of them concerned the "storm." The funny thing was all three had conflicting headlines: "There will be a storm," "There won't be a storm," "Maybe there'll be a storm."

It's pretty big news here. It's 24 degrees today - which I think is a record low for the area. We are now, in fact, measuring the temperature in terms of "wind chill."

Yikes! Wind chill! That's serious.

(I don't believe in wind chill myself. Cold is cold, and that's all there is to that. Unless, of course, cold is 24º, in which case cold isn't even all that cold.

(24º is a record low?)

Yes, the lowest in something like 44 years. The record low high, that is. (Wasn't that clear?)

Yesterday, all schools closed. Not because there was snow but because we expected snow. It didn't.

Today, it did. Nobody is going anywhere. The City of Bellevue issued a notice advising everyone to just stay at home.

No Work Avoidance today! (No work!) Maybe I'll try the YAME-TV soup recipe.

Yeah, that storm is supposed to get here too. They're forecasting four storms in a row here, right down the middle, between now and Christmas. With ice "sandwiched in," says the weather service. That's way beyond grim.

But at least we don't have commuting to worry about. I looked at the Chicago traffic map this morning and the Interstates were end-to-end traffic jams at 6:45 AM.

Enjoy the soup.
