Cold War-era rocket once capable of carrying nuclear warhead found in dead homeowner’s garage
Described as "an air-to-air" Douglas AIR-2 Genie. Meaning…what? They were thinking one airplane could shoot down another airplane with a 1.5 kiloton nuke? Sounds pretty extreme to me. Certainly puts my own modest collection of dead hard drives to shame.
According to the Post, only one such missile was ever fired…that in a 1957 test over Nevada. No mention of shooting anything down with it.
