Yesterday was Patriots' Day (spelled Patriot's Day in Maine because, well, Maine). It's recognized by five states (including the aforementioned Maine) and "encouraged" in another (that being Florida, which seems to encourage all sorts of shenanigans).
It celebrates the revolutionary battles of Lexington, Concord, and Menotomy, which haven't happened for a very long time due to history, and the Boston Marathon, which hasn't happened on Patriot's Day since 2019 due to the plague (it was canceled last year and is postponed now).
It also, because it always happens on a Monday (the third in April) delays trash pick-up where I live by one day, so it's a good thing I noticed it when I did.
