There's a new global ranking of gun deaths. Here's where the U.S. stands | PBS NewsHour
"Since 1990, the number of gun deaths has declined, the report said. But nearly every year since then, firearm deaths outside conflict zones outnumbered deaths that occurred as a result of war."
The U.S. ranks second in total gun deaths, behind Brazil, in this new study as reported by PBS, but 20th in rate of gun deaths (deaths/100,000); 15 of the remaining high-ranked countries are in the Western Hemisphere.
Mass shootings in schools and other public places make up only a very small portion of U.S. gun deaths, the suicide rate is alarmingly high.
