An omen, a palpable omen

In a moment of weakness I called Comcast to see what it would cost to add a few channels of TV service to my Internet—called the number on the website, navigated through the resulting menu to the question about adding services, pressed the required number, and the line went promptly dead.

I did the whole thing a second time with exactly the same result. If that's not an omen I don't know what it is.
