There'll always be an England

Period. Full Stop. Point. Whatever It’s Called, It’s Going Out of Style - The New York Times

"“We are at a momentous moment in the history of the full stop,” Professor Crystal, an honorary professor of linguistics at the University of Wales, Bangor, said in an interview after he expounded on his view recently at the Hay Festival in Wales"

Where else would you learn about anything this momentous than at the Hay Festival in Wales?

This guy, Crystal, an English English geek, says the period is transitioning from punctuation mark to emoji, more or less (we are grateful that commas are still with us; without them, we’d be lost).

Also—English geek alert—the entire New York Times article by Dan Bilefski cited above is written without periods. Just mentioning.

And, as we’re talking about Englishy geek stuff here, has “enjoy” become the new “have a nice day”? All of a sudden it seems everybody’s telling me to enjoy.

Not likely, Bunky. And I’m not having a nice day either
