1907 -- Chicago institutes the first movie censorship in the US — one of the first films banned is a production of Shakespeare's "Macbeth."

Just playing it safe, is all: "According to a theatrical superstition, called the Scottish curse, speaking the name Macbeth inside a theatre will cause disaster."
