This is either the stupidest or the scariest - or both - thing I plan to read all day

From that "David Brooks" person at the paywalled NY Times:

In Defense of Romney - NYTimes.com?

The central problem is that Mitt Romney doesn’t fit the mold of what many Republicans want in a presidential candidate. They don’t want a technocratic manager. They want a bold, blunt radical outsider who will take on the establishment, speak truth to power and offend the liberal news media.

They don’t want Organization Man. They want Braveheart.

So, Republicans want Mel Gibson with his face painted blue? For president? (Sorry, were you eating lunch?)

But the stupid part is - really? - the Republicans want a president who can speak truth to power? So how does that happen, exactly? He stands in front of a mirror all day? OK, somehow I can imagine our most recent Republican president doing exactly that. But that's hardly a reassuring image, is it?
