Our nomination for Simile of the Year

Advanced age has never been a curative, but some in society tend to be so awed by the prospect of longevity that they assume virtue must go along with it. Others are just naturally protective of the most senior of citizens, like a nation of Willard Scotts gazing fondly at a gallery of twinkling oldsters.
